Learn to save your money so it doesn't matter when you get paid. When your checking/savings account starts to get up into the ten thousands, then you can start buying little extras without thinking twice.

I used to think getting paid semi-monthly was a bad thing but maybe not so much anymore
Depending on how much of a difference, the payroll tax 2% increase (well, return to where it was in 2010) could also impact. I know you were out of work for a little over a year, so if you are making the same thing now that you were then, you are going to be losing an additional 2%.

40 hours at $10/hr = $400 with the 6.2% payroll tax is 24.80. The 4.2% tax was 16.80...this would be $16/check on bi weekly.

I am guessing this is it, as you are talking about after taxes and not an issue about getting 26 (bi weekly) vs. 24 checks (bi-monthly)

Why are using a $10 an hour example? I would have never stopped unemployment for a wage like that.

I;m referring to my last job

^^^The poster is using $10 as a mere example. Don't rise to the defense automatically. The poster was trying to help explain it to you. Just say thank you.

24 pay periods in a year vs 26 pay periods in a year. Twice a year you'll have a 3rd paycheck in the month.

When you last worked, we were in the midst of a temporary Social Security tax holiday. The rate for 2 years was reduced to 4.2%.

It expired, and the long-term 6.2% rate was reimplemented.

So all else being equal, your net should have gone down by close to 2% (SS is not paid on employee Health care premium portion).

Sorry the bunny, I had not read page 2 yet. You covered this.
