I currently have experience in Information technology, specifically desktop support, server support etc. Looking to move away from this field. Anyone have any tips on how to go about this?
See if you can volunteer first for the field you want to work in. This will give you a chance to see what it's REALLY like before you invest time and/or money to switch fields. You may find out that that field may not be what it's all cracked up to be. This is what I did.
When switching fields, realize that you're basically starting all over. Hence, be prepared for a major salary decrease and realize that it's probably going to take you a few years to work your way back up to your original salary range.
Depending on which field you're going into, you may have to go back to school before you can enter that field.
That's all I got. Good luck. It's not easy, but if it's a field that's always interested you, the sacrifice will be all worth it.
What field to you want to move to?
Are you qualified to do that work?
If no,
then get qualified
else
apply to the jobs.
