Something is fishy about this, a prominent company wants 3 years of addresses, does anybody think they are trying to determine "stability" and will not consider you for a position if it appears like you moved around?
I googled this topic and found nothing, I just think it's a little strange an employer would ask this early in the app, because I hadn't even gotten to skills and job history, nor is there any mention of why they want to know or it being part of a background check.
I have moved around a lot for work because of the bad economy and I need to stay mobile and follow the jobs. But a computer will not see it that way. Not sure it makes sense to invest any more time in it.
And why do people just voluntarily submit to prying eyes?

Some people are worried about getting a job ASAP and don't always take time (or know) that there are a lot of phishing scams on the Internet.
When I'm helping non-savvy computer users find work, we spend a little time talking about the difference between applying online on a Target or Walmart computer vs. other online apps that may or may not be legit.
I was just out of work for 6+ months and noticed a lot of phishing scams out there when I was applying online. I usually went with my gut - if it seems fishy, it probably is. Some scammers will try to spoof that they are from legit companies, but IMO there's really no reason that a company would need to know any more personal information for an online application than what is on your resume - name, address, phone number, email is more than enough.

Sounds more like a credit check than a job application.
That info should be on your credit report which will show up during background check. What I have done is skip the personal stuff and make a note due to potential ldentity theft you can supply the information at a later time.

I didn't see any option for that when I was doing the Petsmart application. Wish I had even though I'm not getting the job anyway. I racked my brain crazy trying to remember my addresses from the past 10 years.
