Freemkt - once again, you have demonstrated you have no idea what you are talking about, it is no surprise you are in the financial situation you are in.

I figured that since the money coming in is smaller and only temporary

Oh and now that you mention the state employment service...I just got a letter from mine saying there was a data breach and they're paying for a year of free credit monitoring.
My friend who was unemployed last year stated she did not have to pay student loans when she did not have a job.

It certainly seems that way. Everybody breeding and having as many kids as possible. They have more kids and instead of caring for the kids they already have. And I think part of the reason why they keep expanding their family is because they get paid to.

I don't feel like reading any more pages of this thread.

But anyways I have a minimilistic lifestyle that nobody else would ever do. I only drive my (20 year old paid off) car on weekends. I use it to go buy groceries I couldn't find cheaper online. Otherwise I do what is unthinkable: I ride public transportation. I don't smoke cigarettes. I don't drink alcohol. I don't smoke pot. I don't even have dogs. I have a Blackberry, not iPhone or Android, and I certainly don't care about the newest "technology". My computers are old usually PowerPC iBook with 9.2.2 or MorphOS, or equally heat-tolerant ARM powered tablet computer things. (blackberry and android, hate android, I have no iPad, and I refuse to use iPad) 4th generation iPod Nano, ....... Whatever I have I bought used and it still works today despite being many years old. I am only going to move to a decent 3+/2/2/2 (two living rooms) but I don't share the American dream of living in a McMansion on a gated cul de sac with Home Owners Association bossing you on your own property. My wife would have to work and kids would have to do chores. I dread the idea of having room mates, but let's face it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think in today's world it takes at least THREE people to feed a family. Two adults working at least one full time job, with mother-in-law staying at home home-schooling the kids. Everybody gets temporary seasonal jobs if possible. but still no dogs. I refuse.

Those were not the only two possible choices.

Additionally, I think student loans should be used to pay for tuition, fees, and books. Too often, they are used to cover rent, cars, food, and entertainment. The result is students graduate with a bachelor's degree and are 100k in debt.
My student loans helped pay for food and rent and I'm not $100k in debt. This was the only way I could pay my bills.

You have misunderstood the post to which you responded.

He wasn't saying luck kept him out of anything. He was pointing out elements of luck - parents, upbringing, and economic advantages he was just born into - that led to his SUCCESS. Elements that are not there for many, many people, who then have far more to overcome.

He can recognize when he has received advantages due to the success of others - but apparently you cannot.
