OK, technically they settled the case with the NLRB, but the reality is that they lost this one. A labor law professor quoted in the article says that he thinks it could open the door to unionization.

If I worked at an Amazon warehouse, I would think it would be a no brainer. Most warehouse workers here (Seattle area) are unionized, and they make more than double what the Amazon workers make, plus some have pretty good benefit packages.
I've never quite understood why the unions have not been able to make more headway on this, but I suppose that it's easier said than done. But why couldn't (say) the Teamsters just create a website, get it into the hands of a few Amazon workers, and get them to pass it from worker to worker. Once they learned what other warehouse workers are making, and what their options are, it should be an easy sell.
I am generally anti-public-sector union, but I think a case like this shows that there is still a place for private sector unions.
Eh. The thing is frankly unionization generally brings higher costs. Also remember that "could" does not mean "will". You "could" win the lottery. The problem with unionization in retail is frankly how would one designate the whole place as union? If it isn't the whole place then what exactly would cause someone to join a union then? If other warehouses make more then simply work at amazon for a bit and then move to the other...
Let's suppose amazon unionizes for a moment and raises the wages. Who loses? Well the other warehouses because they might not be able to compensation for everything. Also remember wages are only part of compensation once you factor in medical care, tuition assistance, stock plans etc.

America is failing because its people are selfish. I can't BELIEVE anyone would argue against a McDonald's employee making above minimum wage when McDonald's has a store on damn near every corner. Guess you'd rather see the executives get million dollar bonuses.
Working at a warehouse is a low skill job. Any person off the street could do it for minimum wage.
This reminds me of the McDonald's workers who think they should get $15 an hour because they managed to strike for 3 days.
Unions only work in either high skill jobs or essential jobs. Amazon is neither.
Most grocery clerks in this area are unionized. That is relatively low skill work. They make more than these Amazon warehouse workers. There is nothing really magical about low skill or high skill that makes work suitable for unionization. The main benefit is collective bargaining, so you have to have a large enough workforce to support having a team of labor negotiators. Amazon has that.

If you check the actual data: MCD McDonald's Corp Executive Compensation , you'll see that the top people at McDonald's are getting millions in options, which are better than cash bonuses because they're taxed at a much lower rate.

Forget about McDonald's -- you need to expand your $15 an hour minumum wage idea to encompass all employers in America -- that is where your failure to understand economics really shines. You have college graduates making $15 an hour. What do you think is going to have to happen to their wage if you start paying someone that doesn't even need a HS diploma $15 an hour?
