I just gotta say, I have seen people getting "wasted" on caffeine at work at it causes problems to the point that distinguishing caffeine from other drugs seems moot. Why is it ok to have a meltdown from a caffeine overdose but beer is a no-no?

I drink coffee all day and I never get "wasted" on it. The worst thing that can happen is that you get a little jittery, but you are still very functional.

Alcohol impairs both physically and mentally, too much causes accidents and death, and disease. Over use of caffeine makes one a bit hyper but generally improves performance at work. We have about 400 in my office building with free coffee and I have never seen anyone suffer a meltdown from it, or any ill effects. Both the AMA and the FDA consider it safe.

You've seen someone melt down from caffeine use?
Really.

Never in my 40 years of working did I ever once see someone wasted from caffeine. There must be more than coffee in those cups!

How does one get high on caffeine? Isn't it more of a rush?
