A lot of government jobs just have a generic requirement of a degree without specifications of what type. They also often have job tracks for new grads. Of course, it can be difficult to get in if you are not a veteran as most government jobs do have preference, but a lot of times they can't find a qualified vet who is willing to take a lower level job. At my last agency, we had one woman who started right after graduation in a secretarial position and she's now in a pretty high level managerial role.
