The company hired a third party to do background check and my background check was completed on Dec 20. I have not heard anything from the HR. Does it mean my background check is clear? If not, will the HR contact me asking for additional information?

Thanks.

depending on the industry it just may mean that the HR or hiring team was out of the office for the holidays. I would contact them by this Friday if you haven't heard by then.

Most states allow you to get a free copy of the background report- did you request one?

Continue your job hunt, don't wait for them to give you an offer. If the company really want you, they should step up their game on getting the hiring process expedite. Most of the time, HR could care or less about getting all paperwork together for you. Do something within your control, and don't try to worry so much about something you have absolutely no control over it.

They are likely waiting on someone to approve your offer. People being out this time of year is normal, wait until Monday and either call or send a follow-up email asking if there is any additional information they need from you.

Go ahead and send a follow up email then, asking about next steps and timing. Chances are things are just getting back to normal after the holidays but you don't need to wait and fret over it.

We just exited the holiday season! Give them a few days. If they paid to do a background check, they aren't going to just forget about you. I would wait until next Monday, then check in if I hadn't heard anything. But I bet you get word this week.

Yup. It’s just because of the holidays. Out of the last 13 days (since Dec 20), only 6 of them have been actual “business days” & online transactions are probably at a peak.

If there is compromising information from your background check that comes back after your start date it may not matter that you signed the offer letter. If it’s a deal-breaker they could still let you go after you have started working.
