If your living expenses are paid you can get by okay on $150K. Are you struggling so badly now that it would be better for all to be away from them?

In places where cost of life is just high. And he's right, $150K is nothing in SG, you are definitely not living the good life with that kind of money. It's comparable to NYC in term of cost of life, with some aspects cheaper for historical reasons.

Think long term. If you are not a $150k player now and this elevates you to that level, then yes, it's worth it for a couple of years. When you come back to America, you'll command $200k and up. So what if things are tight while living in SG? Again, think long term.

I figure I will find suite mates to save money, and just eat the local hawker center food. I think I can squeeze out maybe $8000 savings per month. Attractive for me.

$150K isn't enough to get me to move to another state let alone another country.

No.
This should have a poll because it is such an easy answer in absentia.

Senior tech jobs pay that. Development managers in R&D. Senior technical individual contributors. A Cisco Fellow makes around $250K to $300K. Tons of health care jobs pay that. There are a million MDs in the United States.

Have to pay for 2nd set of living expenses such as 2nd rent, 2nd car or taxis, local taxes, etc.

I would come out at a loss, if I have to continue to pay mortgage in the USA.

Its been a proven fact that people who posts on CD all have a Ivy league degree and could not be bothered with a silly 150k job.
