It's a common misconception that a "non-profit" organization can not show "profit." That is incorrect. A non profit can use their profit as long as that profit is used in the same type of service the non-profit operates in.
A quick example, I operate a thrift store as a non profit. This business generates a profit. I can not use that profit and then buy a restaurant and operate that restaurant as a non profit as well. I can still buy the restaurant, but I would have to pay taxes on its earnings.
