Is it smart to get a second bachelor's if you haven't worked in your first one yet? Or would it just make you overqualified to work?

Make use of you first one, unless it was useless, like Sociology. Don't get another useless degree too!

What he said lol. Depending on your first one maybe a masters would open more doors (depending on your experience). Also you have to know your career aspirations and just go from there.

I am im a similar situation (except I just barely graduated) and I am taking night classes to get enough for an accounting degree, I only need like 5 more classes though since I majored in finance and took a heavy courseload in accounting too.

If you have ONE BACHELOR degree and want to work in another domain, a Master would be more beneficial than second Bachelor. It is around one or two years compared with around four for second BACHELOR and pay scale is higher, so Master is definitively the answer.
Not all new domains may require you do a new degree so try with your first Bachelor.

ONLY if you can do it without going into massive student loan debt. If you can't work your way through college I'd say it is not worth it.

A lot of colleges don't provide financial aid for second bachelors programs [which means if you do need financial aid you'll have to get a private loan which usually has unfavorable terms]. Second bachelor's degree students are also often at the back of the line when it comes to admissions, getting into courses, etc.

I did exactly that. First BS in biology, which I loved, but did not find work in. 2nd BS Computer science - moved in with mom and dad and commuted to school. I have been working in CS almost 11 years now. I took many, many years to do this. Not exactly the recommended plan, but it worked for me. Time wise, this is not exactly the best way to do things.

I didn't choose the masters in CS after my first BS because it would have been way too difficult for me to get up to speed (I'm not super fast nor super smart). I choose the second BS degree instead so I could go at a normal pace instead of taking compressed masters leveling classes. By the way I am enrolled in a masters program now.

Not neccessarily. My first Bachelor degree was in Management Information Systems. I only had to take ONE MORE SEMESTER to get an additional Bachelor degree in Business Management. Most of the classes were the same.

The 2fer is the smart way to go. But no matter what, it has to be in something useful or it doesn't mean beans!
