I was treated well twice in my working life when making minimum wage. When I was 17 as a Office Assistant at the Univ of Penn Football Office. And at 21 when I was a Office Product Delivery Guy and was finished by 1pm but still paid for 8 hours.
I worked in university recreation and got treated well. Our manager apologized to us that they weren't allowed to pay us more, but instead they provided us over forty hours of training, lots of encouragement and support, recommendation letters for people who were moving on, and they hired good people to work with. There were over 100 employees but everyone was hand picked, and it was really a joy to work there (except for the once-a-week 6am opening shift.)
I had my best supervisors when I was working in college. They would treat the staff the office to lunches (even taking us out), remember each others birthdays and have "mini" parties.
My job....I work as a security guard 40 hours a week in an office building overnights by myself. I have a computer, television, dvd player etc to keep me busy. I have absolutely no work to do and I do not have anyone who checks up on me. In other words, it is my second home.
Home care aide for millionaires. I had the best boss, brilliant lady. I believe she treated us well because she worked her way up from our position, and she was part of a religion that emphasizes good morals and caring for others. I sure miss her.
I worked as a pizza (and chicken) delivery driver during college, and was treated as well as can be expected... it was a pretty kick-back job, since I spent most of my shift driving around & listening to music on the way to customer's homes. When deliveries were slow I'd work at the store, usually making pizzas and running the cash register - and of course a bit of cleaning & prep-work. I had no complaints, and going home with cash tips every night was a major bonus! If I had to go back to minimum wage work, I'd probably start by applying to pizza places.
