Disagree. Chile isn't similar to Bolivia or Ecuador at all.

Compared to say Argentina, I would say Chile has some similarities...more indigenous than Argentina but less so than Bolivia and Paraguay. I don't know how much of the Andean culture it retains, I imagine Santiago is more European than Lima or Quito?

Santiago is weird. I've only been once during a trip to South America. It is a combination of Los Angeles (sprawling, smog that backs up to the Andes), Madrid (for its civic buildings and the metro system) and Vancouver (for newer high-rise condos in Providencia and Las Condes neighborhoods). I'm glad I've seen it, but have no desire to return. Chile is its own country. It's progressive, by South American terms, and I imagine Lima or Quito would be much more Latin American and reputedly less safe. Chile is only minimally like Argentina. Only Uruguay resembles Argentina.

id have to disagree with you, Both Quito and Lima Peru are sprawling Metropolis's. in 2011 Peru had the lowest Murder rate out of all Latin American countries. Second in the Americas to Canada.
Peru, Latin America's hidden growth story
Current Worldwide Homicide/Murder Rate

Chile is Similar to Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia in terms of Andean culture. There are many traditions shared between the 4 countries and even have the same Native Languages such as Quechua
