It may be easy to think of reasons why the United States is hated, but why would anyone hate the Maldives, for example?
Backpackers hate Maldives. If you arrive there and are unable/unwilling to pay for a room in their 5-star hotels (the only class they have), you are immediately put on the next flight out. You will be arrested if you try to sleep on the beach or anywhere else besides a proper hotel. It's like the Florida Keys, where the police diligently patrol and chase you back to Miami-Dade if you try to sleep in your car.
Even Pitcairn Island (population 56) became a global pariah state a few years ago, when it was investigated for some incestuous social customs.
Even Antarctica is hated by Chileans, because Chile claims its Antarctic sector as a province of Chile, and the rest of Antarctica objects in support of Antarctic neutrality. Chile is the only country whose territory is a natural extension of its Antarctic territory. Road maps from Chilean gas stations include the Chilean sector of Antarctica, all the way to the South Pole.
