Using these 5 categories:
1 Geography/scenery: South America. The Andes, Amazon and Patagonia are unbelievable. Africa lacks in mountains a bit and the Congo isn't as impressive.
2. Fauna: I'd have to go with Africa for the savanna.
3. Culture: Africa for the greater variety of cultures while S.American culture is more homogeneous.
4. Cities: South America has bigger/more interesting cities.
5. Safety/Comfort: Both aren't the safest destinations, and both have generally high crime rates, but I believe disease (and getting eaten by a lion, croc or chomped by a hippo, lol jk) is slightly more of a problem in Africa so I'll go South America.
In conclusion, South America by a bit, but I plan to visit both. Africa interests me more in terms of anthropology, though I find the South American landscape more beautiful.
