No trust me, don't try and make me feel better about my country, I mean I love my country dearly but people seriously drive around in Lexus on food stamps getting unemployment checks. Its very common to see this just everyday where I live, in Chicago I saw two women with Gucci purses, with 5 kids, the women bought steak, and all this high quality food then they gave the man food stamps. Another time I saw a man AT THE SAME STORE with gold rings, gold jewelry, a iPhone, expensive shoes and clothes and he pulls out food stamps. That's why everyone here in the states are happy the government cut food stamps, because of these lazy bums, whats sad is people actually do need them here in the states. When people hear that 45 million people in the states are on food stamps, people actually think that those people are poor and need it, little do they know half of them are doing fine, I have 10 of them in my family, my friend's grandmother in Florida gets food stamps and she's practically a millionaire.

If these people are 'practically millionaires', in your words, then they obviously have no real need for food stamps and aren't poor at all. There are plenty of poor people though who do need food stamps.

most Americans are very wasteful , they buy too much on credit, the only reason I use a credit card is so I dont have to carry large amounts of cash, I pay it off asap, or the same day I use the credit card, in my opinion if you cant afford to pay for it you shouldnt be buying it in the first place, I try to never be in debt

I dont celebrate Christmas either, so I dont spend a penny on Holidays or gifts or other wasteful spending

I often see Americans over spending and filling their shopping carts with a bunch of useless items, and ending up bringing most of it back for a refund

I see it all the time at Walmart , people returning a whole shopping cart full of goods, probably all bought on credit

some people are crazy enough to pay full retail prices, I notice most retail items are always marked up with ridiculous prices so they can have a sale and the sale price is also high

sometimes I can take months to find an item at a reasonable price, I bargain shop for everything

Im thinking of getting rid of my cable tv too because it's a waste and not much worth watching on tv except the news once in a while

you can save a lot of money by simply cutting back on all the extras you can live without

The biggest fallacy on government subsidies are expensive watches, phones and "gold rings". The gold rings are actually junk trinkets, and they can save up to get an iPhone because they don't spend all their money on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs, as many do who receives them.

Always and everywhere people always tend to blame generous subsidies and discredit the recipients only for having a "rich appearance". The truth is that the average long-term unemployment benefits are 550€ a month + 75% of your rent, and maybe 200€ more if you have kids. And we are a so-called "socialist welfare state". Try to buy gold chains with that.

Some people seem to be unhappy if the poor aren't clothed in rags and beg for food. No matter what the nationality is, I hear the same thing all over again. Too good benefits, they seem to have too fine clothes, lazy bums, misusing the system, my money etc etc... (And often this is targeted towards immigrants.) The fact is, the vast majority live in poverty and can't even dream about new watches. Some may receive unjustified benefits, but blaming the majority of them as lazy bums is just wrong. I don't have any reference from other countries, but a study here showed that 95% of the people receiving unemployment benefits were willing to work, and 98% of the subsidies were legitimately granted.

another very common mistake many Americans make is getting Married and starting families when they cant even afford it or didnt even finish college because they got married too soon and having children, poor planing

Priorities in the wrong order, they get married and start families before they are more established, instead of completing their education or other career training

a lot of the problems of living pay check to pay check are caused by their own doing

Naw...his generation knew how to separate wants from needs and lived a much more austere life.

In the UK, unemployed people get £56.80 a week to help look for a job if they are under 25, £71.70 if they are over 25 - which is nothing. Depending on your situation, you'll get other benefits, and you will almost certainly get housing benefit so you don't pay full rent, but regardless, nobody on that little money can afford to buy iPhones or even alcohol. Contrary to what people think, it isn't a life of luxury. If it was, nobody would work.

That's the point! Like another poster said, I see Americans returning food because they cant afford it. Americans need t take a class about money!
