What other cities have developments similar to this? IMO Madrid is emulating NYC and Las Vegas, looks to me like its trying to raise its international profile too.
Looks rather tacky, but I guess this could be a problem for the real Vegas. Or maybe not, I think the real Vegas receives mostly American tourists anyway.
Macau in China is the Chinese version of Vegas. In fact, many of the largest Vegas casino/resort developers actually have a presence in Macau.
Anyway, first Disney opens near Paris and now a Vegas-wannabe in Spain. If Europe keeps this up, they will have no reason to visit the US. lol
The key is promotion. If promoted and advertised effectively, it will be an economic success. Everything is what it appears to be in the perception of the public, and nothing is real. Like the Superbowl, or Branson, or Niagara Falls, or Justin Bieber..
I hate it when cities try and copy other cities how about they start their own thing maybe elephants along roads or something
It's an american project, and was an American casino and resort operating company based in Las Vegas who decided to build it in Madrid, in fact, they were looking to build it in Barcelona.
Almost nobody in Madrid wants this, and the city doesn't need this tacky project to atract attention and tourism.

That makes sense. The Disneyland in Paris was built by, well, Disney.
Well i hope the people of Spain manage to get some money out of it.
It certainly would not draw me to Madrid, possibly the complete opposite actually.
At 36,000 rooms that would make it almost 15 times the size of the Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore, quite unbelievable really.
