There was a TV show right before the last elections, where the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor were driving around in an old Mercedes giving an interview to the driver. Sitting up front.

Die Wahlfahrt: Faymann - Spindelegger (2/4) - YouTube

They usually sit in the back of a BMW 740d, though.

All Ministers sit in the back seat. The normal Minister staff car is the Audi A6, the President has an armored MB S600 L and former Presidents have an Audi A8 at their disposal. Finland doesn't have an "Air Force One" but usually use charter-planes, and on domestic trips summons an Army helicopter.

Normal Members of Parliament have to use their own cars or take a taxi.

An armoured car why ? politicians are just the hired help and are hardly Royalty.
In Australia and NZ a male PM will always sit besides the driver, cannot have the peasants( voters) believing the hired help are getting above their station.

So which of your politicians get saluted by your military,in Aus and NZ only Ministers and leader of Her Majesty's loyal opposition get a salute.
The normal hired help of MPs get nothing .

.
In Canada, the Prime Minister, provincial Premiers and also Ministers all sit in the back seat.

Australia is the only place I have been where there is this egalitarian thing about sitting in the front seat with the driver (including taxi drivers).
