The UK seems to an expert in breaking up countries which would otherwise be a united nation.
For example, before exiting, it HAD to do something to break up India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
What are the other countries Britain deliberately split into several smaller countries?
Prior to British occupation, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was not a single country. The single entity was an entirely British creation and the split was to avoid religious conflict (same for Ireland). Also, Pakistan and Bangladesh split in 1971, 22 years after the British withdrawal.

This is why I said that it depends on whom you talk to. Maps of Guatemala in Guatemala include Belize. I don't know about now, but kids used to learn in school that the Brits took it from Guate.

Guatemalan maps would just as British maps would not. The point is that Guatemala was never split up. Guatemala never controlled British Honduras (Belize) and Britain did not control Guatemala. Therefore, Britain could not split the country up.

I get that. I'm just saying, that's not how Guatemalans would answer the OP's question.

Not to mention that the reason for the religious conflict in Ireland was because of the Plantation of Ireland by the British. It's not like it was a home grown problem.
But that is a permanent issue that will always persist
