Easy, Atlanta, very conservative suburbs and state, I mean once you get out of the city it gets very conservative, I believe Atlanta has more gay bars and gay clubs and a larger gay scene than Calgary, not just in Calgary but its considered very large in the south too.

But of course Atlanta is going to have more stuff than Calgary. Its metro is almost five times bigger.
And in any event, being gay friendly and gay equipped is not the only measure of liberalism. Far from it.
Who is more liberal (American definition again): Atlanta or Calgary?
If you're using the American definition of liberal can you explain what that is? What's the difference between the American definition and the Canadian definition of liberal? Wouldn't Atlanta just naturally be more liberal going by the American definition since Atlanta is an American city?

No, not at all. Liberal in America = high taxes, big government, tolerance of social taboos, rights for minority groups. By the American definition, most Canadian cities are more liberal than most American cities. The word "liberal" suggests roughly the same ideas as in Canada.
Calgary is clearly more economically liberal, the level of taxation and government size in Calgary would simply never fly in Atlanta, even among much of democratic populace. Socially, I'd say Atlanta. Calgary doesn't have exactly the best reputation for minorities.

That doesn't mean anything. The city of Oceanside, CA was the first city to elect a black mayor in San Diego County all the while having race relation problems including with the police department.
Yeah, but I've met lots of ethnic minorities from Calgary in Vancouver. They never seemed to imply it was anything other than an accepting and cosmopolitan city. I've not heard of unusual levels of racial friction in Calgary, I can't even remember any news stories about any.
