I wonder if the French autonomous oversea territory of New Caledonia will not vote for independence one of these days (the local Kanak -nonwhite-population very much favors independence)
The north iraqi kurdistan province might also secede completely from Iraq if the anarchic situation there doesn't improve.
And in Spain if Catalonia opts for independence, the Basque country might follow.
And I've been told that encouraged by what is happening in Scotland, a new referendum on the independence of Quebec could be held soon.
Quebec is having elections next Monday, and things are not looking as good as the were at the start of the campaign for the separatist party, so a referendum is unlikely here in the short to medium term.

You look at a few nutcases in a crowd and think the whole state wants to secede? I don't even know what to say to you.

Texas Secession Poll: 75% Of Texans Say No

Support for Texas Secession Rises After Obama Win

Even after Obama's reelection the support for Texas secession increased to only 20% of the residents.

Texas isn't going anywhere.

But it was a monarchy not a republic, right? Heck wasn't it a British colony actually? It still has the union jack on it's flag.

This is true, however today, only Texas would have any shot as it is more united than California. Movements to split up California are as old as the state itself. The north/south division being the oldest. The original proposal to name a state Colorado was not for the current state but for southern California. More recently there are the more politically motivated east/west proposals which never last. The latest one also has a more north/south component to it. the most persistent of these movements involves the creation of the state of Jefferson which involves the far northern counties in California as well as most in southern Oregon. Unless CA unites itself, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

New Caledonia and Faroe Islands can really become independent pretty soon, as far as I understand.
As for Scotland, I don't think they will vote for it. Catalonia... maybe...but also not sure.
Veneto is just a joke.
Abkhazia, Ossetia, Transnistria etc. will keep their current status of de-facto independent but officially nor recognized states.
Parts of Somalia may be recognized as independent states at some point.

I think many in NC don't want independence, I guess being an overseas department brings many benefits. A bit like Puerto Rico and the US.

I think Canada would be happy if Quebec leave, but I don't think Quebec will leave because they need all the anglo Canadian money that they get from the rest of anglo Canada
