Just out of curiosity, what countries would be the best to relocate to (in terms of job availability and economic safety net) and have the easiest emigration requirements (I know Canada does not)? Also, what countries have the most civil liberties and the least crime?

Singapore !!!

You won't have a problem with language.. western food and restaurants are easily found.. Low crime rate and many employment opportunities..

In terms of entertainment... American TV, music and movies are huge here..

I think most Americans who come to Singapore feel pretty much at home here.. Of course it is still not home..

I don't think that there is any country in the world that it is easy for the average American to emmigrate to legally.

The best country for an American to move to is the one he likes being in the most.

The land of unicorns and candy canes.

Maybe Australia?

Really, as mentioned, you must have a 1) unique set of skills and a niche market in which to gainfully employ them and/or 2) a lot of money to begin with, otherwise your life will be pretty much the same anywhere: nowadays unskilled labor is a dime a dozen globally.

Every jurisdiction has its own set of rules to obtain legal residency and other useful permits; once you have 1) and/or 2) above, then, as mentioned, choose the place where you want to live and follow the rules.

In my experience, best is to talk face-to-face with an immigration officer inside the target country itself, and not looking at an embassy/consulate website or talking to an officer there, though still a good starting point.

Good Luck!

The days of easy emigration ended quite a while ago. And of course the US was the easiest country to get into, because we didn't have citizenship rules that required blood relatives and stuff, (we still don't, at least only rely on blood for citizenship, anyone born here is an American citizen "jus soli," not the case in almost every other country) so up until the 1920s it was if you could get here, you could get in. These days the US is still the most immigrant friendly as a society, and the most immigrant friendly by quantity.

As for your other questions, well I assume you don't think you live in the place with those qualities already, but I'll tell you as for civil liberties, you're already in the place with the freest speech on the planet, "hate speech" regulation is against the Constitution, so it will never be banned here, also the rest of the Bill of Rights, are pretty relevant in that regard.

As for low crime, again you're already there, FBI crime statistics show the true rate of violent crime, but comparing the US to much smaller, homogeneous nations will show that there are countries with actual statistics that are quantitatively lower. Overall I'd say look around the US for a place you'd rather live, than trying to emigrate, it would be much easier.
