In which places you wouldn't ever live at your free will?
My list is:
Most of Black Africa - horribly poor, too hot climate in many places
Saudi Arabia and many other Arabic countries - horrible climate, strict religious laws
Norilsk - horrible climate (I like cold and snowy winters but it's too much even for me), pollution, ugly architecture
North Korea - because it's a poor dictatorship
Cuba - mostly the same as North Korea (although it's becoming more free in recent years) + it's hot all year round
Venezuela - poor, high crime rate, too hot climate in most places
It's not full list.

Most of mine would be in the USA. including New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta , Washington, Las Vegas and Dallas. Any of the places mentioned in posts above would be better than that, provided I had the income to afford it, and provided I didn't have to be a citizen of the country.

I have lived in at least one of the countries mentioned by previous posters (a Muslim country in the middle east, namely Jordan, and it was a wonderful place to live), and I went to Africa (Madagascar) to work, but when I got there, I found that the government was no longer issuing alien work visas, and even the supervisor I was supposed to meet there had not had her visa renewed and was gone. I lived in Romania during the Ceausescu regime, but only for 4 months. I liked it there, too, but that was before he got completely crazy.

I wouldn't want to live in any country (or section thereof) where it's illegal for me to be gay. Or where nasty diseases like malaria, dengue, Chagas, ebola, etc. are endemic.
