Yes... if there was a situation like that i could see them accepting of American refugees and i could see the locals being accepting of me... plus it is very close to home culturally and it reminds me of the USA.

We are really lucky to have a back up country like Canada

I actually agree with you. I think we would, too.

Of course, your government would have to do something absolutely horrid for us to actually go through with unleashing our entire stockpile of Biebers.

America is an oligarchy, controlled by rich and powerful Americans. I get to vote for one of two people who both are committed to perpetuating the same escalating and self-serving power structure, and no other names appear on the ballot. (. . . If I'm lucky. In most elections, my congressman runs unopposed.) My life would be no different if I woke up in the morning to discover that it is controlled by rich and powerful Chinese instead.

Fighting a conventional war as part of a mechanised infantry battalion in the eastern Austrian flatlands wouldn't be my cup of tea. I guess I wasn't lucky enough when we got assigned to our units.

Would I run for Switzerland? I don't know if that's even possible. The government would probably make sure that no one would cross the border. And it's fairly easy to have an eye on that relatively small piece of land.

I would not necessarily die for my country but I hope our current president will someday.

if nothing else just to prove his patriotism

Not saying it's good or bad, but of all of the forumers, Ariete, you're the one who's surprised me the most on this thread!

i think if you care for your kids future and that future appears to be under serious threat from an invading force , you have to be willing to die for your country if need be , a country is made up of its people and culture
