You can't actually believe the UK is poorer than Mississippi...
I'd sure hope not because in Mississippi they still live in shacks in the swamp without running water, electricity or a sewer. Last time I've been in the UK it seemed in a much better condition than that.

I recall seeing a documentary about the Falklands war. An ex Argentinian soldier said he was told he was "liberating" the islands. When he got there, he found the local people drove on the other side of the road, looked different (light skin, eyes and hair), spoke a different language, ate different food to them, were not aggressive and he felt like he was an invader.
