According to the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, they registered around 1.1 mil people in 2015 alone, add to that the numbers from 2016. Sure, not everybody who was registered in Germany stayed in Germany and not everybody got asylum. The official number for 2015 and 2016 together is 1.2 mil (the real number is likely much bigger). But don't forget family reunions, which will add a lot of more people...
