Florence would be on top of my list with Dubrovnik, Tallinn, and Victoria ( BC) for its setting.

Salzberg is an Alpine city in Austria. the Sound of Music was made in and around Salzburg.

Lucerne is a lakeside mountain city in Switzerland.

Salt Lake City is one of the cleanest, safest, wealthiest cities in the U.S. Its the quintessential pleasant Middle American metropolis away from the crime, poverty, and pollution of New York and Los Angeles.

And it's also super boring. Not so sure about the wealth thing either. I'm from Texas and Salt Lake seems very middle class to me.

having been to both Salzburg and Luzern both have charm! Are they the most idyllic cities in Europe.... probably not I have been to more idyllic ones! Such as Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and so many small towns in the alpes!

lol yes I know very well these cities that's what I'm very surprised to see them here. IMO, Slazburg or Lucerne as nothing to do with a city which could be idyllic, it's cold, sad, and boring and it's little, very little. As for Salt Lake city , it's the city of the mormon and I have to say that when we are talking about an idyllic thing I don't think first to Salt Lake city to say the least !
