I can see Hong Kong being number 1 in terms of being a major transit point
but don’t tell me people prefer it over London, Paris, and New York.

I don’t think they count the people who have only been to Hong Kong airport for this list though.
I saw HK, 4 days, I just cannot conceive this city is the most visited in the world. It was the biggest disappointment in my tourist life... Unless London, Roma, or even Vienna, this city has nothing to offer except skyscrapers and cockroaches with 100% of humidex.
Like Macau, the main reason is that they are near China -1,3 billion potential tourists-.

Shenzhen almost as visited as NYC? What the heck is in Shenzhen to see? It is not even the top 20 tourist city in China.
