I agree with you on this, I know very little bit about it, and I think most people are even unaware of it, maybe the panama papers put a little spot light on the area. To me it looks like Miami but on steroids.

Panama City is large city in Panama it is located between Central and South America with access to Carribean and USA

Do you mean underrated by tourists, or global investors?

Of those Ive been to, underrated in terms of how much they are generally respected by outsiders:

1. Hargeisa, Somalliland
2. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
3. Asuncion, Paraguay
4. Siem Reap, Cambodia
5. Chisinau, Moldova

Agreed. It's also urbanizing nicely, with a new metro + 2 lines under construction. In 10 years, once the Old Colonial Town (Casco Viejo) is fully revitalized, the city should move up the urban hierarchy. It already has a world wonder (Panama Canal) a jungle within city limits, some great shopping and a booming economy.

There aren't many cities that just magically appear out of a dense canopy of rainforest:
