What is the most beautiful-sounding Romance language for you?
I think this is the first poll I've ever participated in. I chose Italiano and was surprised that French came out so high in the poll. I don't find the sound of the French language beautiful at all. I've known French speakers and the language always sounds too "nasally" to my ear.
I cannot stand European Spanish (American Spanish is not bad actually). Italian is a bit comical to my ears. French is over the top.
Portuguese sounds the most pleasant to my ears. Has a better flow and resonation.
Interesting perception. I am brazilian with italian ancestry, and when I listen to someone talking in italian, it doesn't sound exactly comic, but rather familiar. It's like my grandparents were talking to me with their broken Portuguese. They were in fact born in Brazil, but with poor literacy and in the neighbourhood where they were raised, the overwhelming majority of the population was italian or first-generation descendant of italians at that time. Therefore, they spoke (still speaks, in the case of my grandmother - 88 years old) a Portuguese full of mistakes and heavy italian accent.
For one I personally agree Romanian sounds better than French yet in no way as good as Italian or Spanish...I'd still give it to Latin if they've talked the way I can remotely imagine and not with some very weird accent.
What do you think, is there a relationship between the Romanian word "başca" /separately/, the Kazakh word «басқа» (baska) /to the head, another, separately/ and the Italian word "fastigio" /vertex, top/?
Bashkir roots in the Romanian word.
Romanian "baştina" /origin, clan, homeland, fatherland/.

I've heard Catalan, Romanian and Portuguese and didn't like it. I prefer Italian and French.
