Interesting (not necessarily surprising) points:
1. Top countries are all in the Middle East and Africa.
2. China hosts more refugees than any western country.
3. Japan is only ranked #89 (not shown here).

To be fair, I think all the top 15 countries border the countries where the refugees come from, except the US. I'm assuming the refugees to China come from SE Asia. Also, I'm assuming many of those top countries are counting refugees from their own countries, Syria for example.

2014 was before the big refugee crisis of 2015/2016 in Europe. No wonder that those stats look strange. In 2015 in Germany alone it was like one million.

There's a pretty big difference between one million to one country in one year and one million to many countries in five years.

That's pretty interesting. On face value, which one would a rational person think is closer to the real number?

Don't know on which numbers those website is based. Are those actually people accepted as refugees, or does it include those who came illegally without any perspective for asylum and people who arrived and did not apply for asylum and just hiding in the underground?

Well that's the united nations data so that's why i thought it would be quite close from the truth. Also, one million in one year seemed like an enormous number to me, but I don't live in Germany.
