Today I'm going to write a poem
About, I know not what
I could write about my cat
If I had one,
Or my new hat.
Perhaps I'll write about my day
But then, there isn't much to say
So that's enough of that.
Could I write of how I feel
I'm not sure that I can
For there's a limit I can write
Of broken dreams
And lonely nights
There is just so much I can
Speak 'bout love gone down the pan
Enough of that. Alright?
I sound just like a hopeless drone
A pessimistic drag
So what about my manic laugh
Yes, I can be absurdly daft
My sense of humour is quite sick
Played more than one plain dirty trick
Though jokes I tell are 'naff'.
Artistic licence is so good
I can write most anything
I can say I am a royal princess
With slaves to clean up all my mess
For not one word has to be true
I'll leave the guesswork up to you
One day I may confess
By now you will have guessed that I
Am not a natural poet
As I am sure you will agree
My lack of talent's plain to see
But I don't have to worry none
For I can sign this work 'anon'
So no one knows it's me.

Thanks poco for your great comments and the welcome. Feels like I've landed in friendlyland. It's so important that we do things just because we like doing them sometimes, don't you think? I love just being daft sometimes, although I also know when to be serious. But laughter is one of the greatest gifts and should be used as often as is humanly possible. There's some talented people on here, both poets and artists hey? Thanks again poco.
