Can someone help me, maybe through examples, of when to use who and when to use whom. I have read the rules but they are littered with jargon you hear in English class which confuses me and I never seem to get clear in my own mind the proper usage.
Very easy. Just make a hypothetical answer to the question. If the answer is "He", use "Who". If the answer is "Him", use Whom".
"Who said so -- according to whom?" Just substitute with "He said so -- according to him".
