Although I currently have no tattoos, have no plans at this time to ever get one (although that could change), and come from a family who looks down on getting tattoos, I have a soft spot in my heart for literary tattoos, especially black (as opposed to colored) ones.

Anyone else feel the same way? I figured this would be a good section in which to start this thread. What literary tattoos have you seen that you liked? Were they quotes, symbols of punctuation, or maybe something completely original with the bearer?

After reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck, I was obsessed with "timshel." A year later, I had it tattooed on my right forearm with a period after it. I still love it to this day, though I do need a touch up. I love seeing literary tattoos!

Not literary, exactly.

But among other tattoos, I have Borodin's On The Steppes of Central Asia on my right bicep in memory of my father.

John Steinbeck is one of my favorite authors. Great choice!
