Back in the late sixties a new guy came to Blackshear High
His name was Lindy and he could tote a football, my , my
All of us become close friends and players on a special team
To play hard, to laugh often, to win a championship was our dream
Lindy was the kind to lend a sympathetic ear and helping hand
He was the one we wanted beside us as we made a goal line stand
Lindy was most humble about his accomplishments and skills
He was a team player and could care less about the extra frills
Lindy was valedictorian of the Blackshear High class of '69
He went on to become a doctor, one that was mighty fine
Through the years we all remained the best of friends
But there came a day when Lindy's life on earth would end
The memories we hold of our friend Lindy are precious indeed
The good Lord gave us a true friend because he saw our need
Fifty nine years Lindy Blount walked on the face of this earth
We shared many of those years with him, we cherish his birth
To Lindy's wife Carole, and their children, we wanted to let you know
Our friendship and love for Lindy through the years did grow and grow
Faith in God and your fellowman will see you through this time of grief
Lindy knew the Lord and we'll see him again is our firm belief
Olis Davis, Joey Carter, Wayne Britt classmates, football team mates,
and friends of Dr. Linden (Lindy) V. Blount
