Hmmm. Sometimes it comes out in other ways; for example, when someone takes on a screen name that demonstrates her delusions of grandeur for use in an Internet forum.

I agree with Poseur, like the others. It's a noun, which it seems is what you were after.

Yes. This is the word that perhaps best fits the exact description the OP requested. "Affecter" would be the noun. "Dissembler" and "feigner" have similar uses.
