You may find work in the logging industry if there is anything left of that and farm work at times requires welding skills.

Your post could have been mine a couple of years ago, simply replacing Orlando with Fort Worth, Texas. I don't know a thing about welding, but I can tell you there are no finer or friendlier folks anywhere than right here in Wyoming.

We bought a small parcel of land in Clark a year or so ago and have been living here, building a bit at a time, the past 8 months. Neither my husband or I can imagine ever living anywhere else.

Plan to make some trips to areas that interest you, in different seasons of the year. There will probably be people on this forum familiar with those areas and you'll find folks here eager to answer questions. Good luck with your desire to relocate!

Your timing might be good to hit the Niobrara oil play. At the moment the rumers are flying. The Niobrara play in Wyoming is in the North eastern section north as far as Douglas. Wheatland might be a good choice.

Working as a welder in Wyoming, in winter, has its advantages. It is something you can do outdoors wearing heavy gloves, and you will appreciate the heat the welding generates. My father was an electrician, I grew up working as an electricians helper, there was a lot of the work that required which could not be done with gloves on, made it tough working outdoors in winter.

We hear ya SSWELDER1..we are over in Daytona and are trying to close a deal on our house and business to get out of Florida ourselves. Good luck to you and your family. We are probably going to wind up somewhere in the Star Valley area.

I am still seeing quite a few ads in the Gillette News Record looking for welders in the mining industry and supporting industries here. You might check it out, especially in the Sunday editions. Also be sure to follow the Wyoming at Work website.
