Guys,

How's highway 310 (Lovell North) kept plowed/sanded around this time of year? Can a guy still make Billings in 1-1/2 hours or so along that route in winter? Ice, other hazzards and dangers?

I have traveled that road what seems to be a million times! My last 2 years of college I commuted every week to Billings. The plows are out and sanding is done so usually there isn't a problem. That being said, there are times that the wind blows the snow across that highway and it gets very slick! If it gets bad enough they will close the road between Frannie & the state line. Please be aware that this is the stretch of road (between Frannie & Bridger) where my daughter-in-law crashed head-on into a semi in December because she got caught in slush & on ice and slid right in front of the truck. So, even though it is usually an okay drive in the winter there are times that it can get bad, even when open!

Bridger is only 3648 feet, Billings is 3124 feet, I could not find Frannie but Lovell is 3837 feet and the grades on the roads from Lovell to Billings are all pretty minor.

You are not likely to encounter snow, ice and cold weather hazards in August.

Understand..........just like to know a bit of that route to Billings back and forth. A trucking company terminal is there if I remain chosen to reside in Powell.

Trying to coordinate a future in 9 years or so there, drivin' trucks and age 50 or so. Powell seems like my kind of place to be. Intend an area visit in August.

Thanks,
Mike
