Hello Everyone

I've just started plaining my summer vacation and one of the things i was looking at was Yellowstone NP. I have a few questions that are hard to get answers from websites and the like, so i thought i would go straight to the source. AKA you guys and gals

I was Plaining for the week after labor day to help cut down the the amount of people, Will that work? what is the weather typical for then? is there a better time?

Another question: what would you recommend I don't miss there? any good day hikes? and of course any other info you think will help

Will the animals be growing there winter coats? on my last trip there a couple of years ago i went in the spring (mid to late May) and while it was Great all the animals where shedding there winter coats, doesn't look so great on the picture you know

The week after Labor is a great time to go as you surmised the crowds are down and the weather can be very nice. Some wildlife can be more testy as the males are going into rut and the griz are storing up food for the soon to be winter hibernation so the typical precautions must be met for hiking. It can snow pretty much anytime especially over the passes but rare at that time.

It would be great if it snowed in the high passes while i was there
I had not thought about the rut, that would make for better photography but I will also have to be more careful not to get them mad at me. I know I can't run faster then the bison and having one hit you would not make for a goof vacation
