Hello,

We too love the west. We lived in Calgary, Alberta for 7 years and coming from humid Ohio, I loved the dry climate. We have traveled extensively out west and would love to live there.

We are looking for a city with a good hospital system, local college or university, convenient shopping, and nice, friendly, intelligent people. I guess we want the best of both worlds, country living with city conveniences. I'm not sure if any area in Wyoming fits that. We currently live in Louisiana and can't wait to leave here. People are nice but they don't value intelligence here. My husband is from Canada and I was raised in Ohio.

Thanks for any input anyone can give me.

Default Laramie, WY

Laramie, WY might work for you. Great town. Small by city standards (about 28,000 people I think) but the University of Wyoming is there. Very dry - windy though. Cold also but on the other hand it's great in the summer!

Thank you for your response. Laramie did look like the best choice to me.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Our internet went down and we've had to use dial-up.

Laramie for the university and Casper has a college also. I prefer Casper myself but it depends on what you are looking for. Visit them and you will know. There are also other cities with colleges you could check out, just serf the web for Wyoming colleges. Wyomiles

There are several small colleges around the state but they are not the same as a university and what the university provides. Casper is larger than Laramie but does not have the same feel. Riverton is a nice town and also has a college, as does Powell, Torrington, Rock Springs these towns all offer community colleges. It just depends on what you want in a town. The best thing to do would be to visit.
