Thanks all for your responses. NW Crow and rya700, you're keeping this along the lines that I necessarily have to follow. Riverton might be my best hope. Appreciate you mentioning it.

Here is one age restricted community in Riverton

contact info here

Another tool with contact info across whole state (can limit to 55 plus):

I loaded Sheridan here but you can check other cities. I'd probably check Sheridan, Buffalo, Gillette, Casper, Douglas, Cheyenne, maybe Newcastle. If you want to stick to the east.

Probably should find at least 4-10 options, list out your most important questions, call and talk to them a bit, check prices & availability, then inquire even further with the best and finally visit at least a couple before deciding. Take your time. Don't let anyone try to rush you.

Maybe try calling these folks for ideas, assistance https://whninc.org/

Looking to buy, rent or considering both possibilities? If you decide to buy, really take your time. Renting for 6 months or a year is often wise if you have any doubts about liking the area, winter, etc.

FWIW the lander/riverton mobile home parks listed in above link are not 55+ communities. You might consider calling real estate agents in the towns you are interested in to get some suggestions.

Wouldn't want to live in a mobile home park. Prefer a regular home.

The one park I listed in Riverton was marked at 55 plus restricted in first link but the second link with all the kids pictured did raise questions about the accuracy of that. I wondered about it, but did not know for sure either way. Seems like you are right about that. An example why it would be necessary to call and gather more information.

Responses in this thread were for Lake Effect.

Preferences / needs vary.

The Cedar Springs Meadows rec by Jody might apply more to you, IF you were willing to drive 2 hours to Idaho Falls for big box shopping AND put up with a heavy winter. You are not going to have easy access to big box shopping in Wyoming unless you live in or near Cheyenne or Casper (both have Sam's Clubs but not Costco). Evanston, you'd be about 1.5 hours away from SLC.
