Found this Weather Service video from a few years ago, with excellent explanations as to why and where the strong winds prevail around Wyoming, along with the local topography that contributes to site specific strong winds & gusts.

In light of the nonsense I've seen posted recently on social media by a RE agent in Casper trying to get clients with her recent video on how Casper's winds are no more or no less than the Wyoming State average winds & gusts, this may be a timely posting. The lady either doesn't understand how an "average" statistic is created or is deliberately setting out to mislead prospective clients about Wyoming's climate in the Casper area. (In my experience with Wyoming RE agents, this type of misrepresentation is deliberate, but YMMV).
Folk investigating this area would be well served to do an on-line search to check out the Wyoming Wind Energy Density charts; they'd see a map showing how Casper's (and the corridor down to Cheyenne) winds are in relationship to the rest of the state.
