Moves to Wyoming pick up during COVID-19 pandemic

Quote:
GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — When Aaron Cannon and his family began looking to relocate last year, they had their eye out West.

The idea of moving to Wyoming was appealing for several reasons, but leaving the changing social and cultural tension in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, became the deciding factor for the move.

“I thought, ‘I can’t live with the crazies anymore, enough of this stuff,’” Cannon said...

"Why Gilette, Wyoming of all the places and spaces in Wyoming?"

Because urbanites ARE, as urbanites DO.

When one is born/raised & lives one's entire life SURROUNDED by people on all-sides of oneself, and cannot fully-commit to 'giving-up' (and turning completely-away from 'entitlements' and/or '25/8-366 Modern-Day Conveniences') one simply does'nt know ANY other way to live.

It's one thing to SAY one wants to 'get away from it all'...

...but it's another thing ENTIRELY, to actually DO it.

And on a completely 'unrelated' note: Tensleep Wyoming just had a 3.9 earthquake, about an hour ago, about 9 miles deep.

Considering that such tremors are (somewhat) common in Stanley/Soda Springs Idaho, and West Yellowstone...it probably means very little...

...but strange things are happening all-over the world, lately...

I felt it necessary to mention it, for some reason.

We get earthquakes all the time. We are in earthquake country. But the towns in Wyoming are all by themselves with nothing around them like Gillette, Buffalo, Lander, Worland, Basin and Greybull. That alone keeps the traffic down. You don't have clusters of cities that are attached to each other sharing the same roads. All of that adds to the congestion to the thorough fares.

Given enough time, enough people and enough taxes BLED-OUT from those people, we will (eventually) have the very same problems here, as exist everywhere else.

In many places, we already DO...and it's only going to get worse with everybody coming here in a desparate-attempt to get-away from it, wherever it is they are coming from...

...and it IS everywhere now.

One has only to remove the rosy colored glasses, discard the pollyanish-view, and take a long, HARD look, to see what's really happening, for what it actually is.

"If you need to ask...you'll never know...

...if you know...you need only ask."

Wyoming Real Estate: “Red-Hot Market” Due to Out-of-State Buyers

By Wendy Corr, Cowboy State Daily

It’s a seller’s market.

That’s what Wyoming real estate agents are saying after an influx of out-of-state buyers has all but decimated the available properties in the last year.

For example, in Cody, there are 193 active licensed realtors – but only 20 available residential properties in the city limits...

Talked to a few locals recently with young families who would like to get into their first home or upgrade to accommodate their growing family. They can't afford the increased prices. As one guy who currently owns a townhouse and wants to purchase a single family home said "I thought we had a house a couple of times but we got bid out both times by people from out-of-state who could pay cash. How do I compete with that?"

To add insult to injury he's a plumber and has been busy installing plumbing in new house construction that he can't get into himself.

Sincerely hoping that a whole lot of people bug out of here within a year or two.
