Hello all

I have one month vacation, i can take June thru september, I would say end June - beginning of July or so ... but I am flexible.

I plan to vagabond with my 4runner camper somewhere in wyoming / montana or maybe Utah.

Trying to stay out of scorching heat, what area do you guys recommend.

Any input appreciated.

Mostly quiet, lesser known places:

Wyo: Hams Fork, Greys River, west of Marbleton, north of Dubois, lakes above Pinedale, around Encampment... Maybe Flaming Gorge initially but check the temps.

MT: Flint Creek Range, Pioneer Mtns, Anaconda-Pintler....

Utah: Uintas, Fish Lake, Aquarius Plateau, east of Beaver, around Richfield...

One month is an excessive amount of time in Wyoming. I'd add some other places like Montana or the Black Hills.

@NW Crow - thank you, will check out those places

@NDak15 - good idea with Black Hills, thank you.

The idea is that i have this time and trying to plan a trip during a period that is not too hot or too cold.
I'm thinking end of June - beginning of July would do.

Asking for advice from people who live in the area and know.

Planning on exact spots depends on what you want to do. Light hiking and just chillin in scenery or deep wilderness ventures. Stream or lake fishing. Dipping into town at night or day hanging too or only as necessary. Campgrounds or dispersed camping. Quiet places or famous, busy places. The more you say about your style, the more people could possibly try to match with recommendations.

I don't want to have a fixed route, but would like to have some markers.
Definitely in for light hiking and chilling in a dispersed camp with as few people as possible around.

Add the Big Horns on your list for dispersed camping and the elevation for coolness. Add the Beartooth Highway/Cooke City area for insanely great views views.

Might want to go as early in June as you can, maybe mid-June, if you want to stay in the cooler times. Late June ends to greener part of the year, and by early July, things are drying out. Elevation is your friend for heat.

Sounds like a fun trip!

"few people around as possible" - central part of the state. For example red desert and killpecker sand dunes, south pass/Atlantic city area. Shoshone national forest. high elevation and very isolated, stunningly beautiful but the wind can be brutal. Thousands of acres of BLM and forest service land....you have hundreds of options to explore. Lots of dispersed camping Facebook pages. Also BLM.gov.

The "Granddaddy of them All" Rodeo is the last full week of July in Cheyenne. And it is spectacular. I used to live in Cheyenne. That takes care of one week and then there are other beautiful places to see. I would go to Wyoming, obviously.
