I am planning to move to Wyoming next year. Can anyone help me with the important things I need to take care here. The things which are different from Chicago.

dryer cold, more wind, lower taxes, more conservative, Though Chicago did have Milton Freemen . lot less people, Not as fancy of Steak house and restaurants some food not as fresh. Less crime. Farther to health services

It's a good thing you are thinking about this first to prepare yourself for culture shock.

Do you have a particular area of Wyoming in mind?

Rock Springs... Rocks not Trees in your view. Miles and Miles to a bigger town or city, so you better love Rock Springs/Green River because Cheyenne is 250+ miles, Salt Lake City about 190 miles. Chicago may be nick named The Windy City, but Rock Springs and southern Wyoming will be more extreme when the wind is blowing. Chicago 2.6 million people, Rock Springs/Green River less than 40K. No Great Lake, or great water source for miles. Yes, there is a river in Green River, but not one for power boating/sailing. Flaming Gorge isn't too far away though. Your choices in entertainment will be much slimmer, i.e. not much for theater, concerts, museums, fine dining, pro or college sports, etc.

I would assume Rock Springs is much quieter and has a slower pace of living. Not much of a visible homeless problem. There is shopping to meet your basic needs in town, from groceries to clothing, to American car companies, etc., and Amazon will deliver. Desert outdoor actives are abundant and close at hand. Snow skiing isn't really close, but in comparison to Chicago it would be considered pretty close. Low humidity and not much rain or snow throughout the year can be pretty nice, but it does get hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Have you visited Rock Springs much? I assume you are moving for a job opportunity, maybe a first job out of college?

Housing - are you planning to rent or buy? It can be slim pickings, especially for rentals, depending on how much oil/gas extraction is going on at the time. Start looking sooner rather than later

Rock springs has Chicago connections, back from probation, an Kemmerer moon from northwest of there. On a board with a guy that grew up there and told about buying a pick back in the 70s and how he had to buy the bumpers and spare tire from another guy. Who also made him a deal on a new big(they where just coming out) microwave for just $50 a fraction of what they cost. He had a old garage full of them on a back street next to the one with tires. But it was more of a place for some from the Mob to hide and be quiet.
