Well proud to say there are 2 "cold hearted women" on here. I grew up in the cold, had poor heating in most houses I lived in because they were all sooo old (not torn up or trashed, just old - like my childhood home being a hospital during the Civil War & part of the Underground Railroad in Ohio - it just had gas graviy heat about 20 feet below our bedrooms). And in Wyo the trends seems to be hot water heat everywhere & rather than pay for the gas for most of 30 years I have heated with a wood stove. I don't think I have EVER heated a bedroom and I actually keep the window cracked all year long because can't stand the stale air. So, even if is snowy (like the time it was about -30 & the wind was blowing about 40 MPH & blowing ice crystals & snow off of trees into the bedroom & he had a cute little snowbank on his butt. Was soooo funny....I DID concede to closing the window for the rest of that night. LOL!!!!).

I RARELY wear a jacket or coat all winter long heavier than an unlined Harley jean jacket & rarely w/much more than a t-shirt underneath. If it gets below 0 I'll wear a leather riding coat, but only waist length. I just do NOT get cold. Gimme a cold any day. I could live very happily in an environment that had NO summer - just spring/autumn or whatever & winter - SKIP summer. PLZ!!!!! But hubby is a housepainter so that is his working season so can't move any further north. AND I'd have to leave Wyo to do so anyway...

I don't think I'm as much of a cold-weather lover as you! I like all the seasons, I just can't understand why people diss winter sooo much. I understand that after awhile the cold and snow is just too much, but it offers so much that the other seasons can't! And there is something to bucking up and living through extreme cold. I guess the same could be said about living through extreme heat, but I'm not enjoying it like the cold (ok, I'm miserable). I tell people that with the cold, you can always add another layer, but there are only so many layers you can take off when you are hot!

There was a major controversy in Jackson recently as the BTNF was talking about moving the headquarters out of Jackson to another town with more affordable housing for their staff.

As you can imagine the land occupied by the BTNF headquarters is worth millions. Well, after about six months with the folks in Jackson screaming about them leaving they reversed their thinking and will now sell part of their land and stay in Jackson.

I enjoyed all the years living there but knowing I could never afford to own property was one of the main reasons I left.

BTW, since you asked I don't think there is much discrimination based on income in Jackson. Most of the wealthy live there part-time and if they do live there fulltime and have kids many go off to private school. In the last 10 years there has been a large influx of Mexicans and they have been pretty much accepted as the folks of JH know they need the workers for their busnesses to survive.

Thats interesting to know, since the job is with the Forest Service. Actually, I'm now hoping that he doesn't even get interviewed for it, because with people like us, its just plain hard to say no to western Wyoming!! Obviously, we couldn't stay there long-term and I'm so tired of moving! (four moves in two years, with two young children) Yet, here we are saying, "Well it would be an awesome job to wait out for another, better position." Sigh, I don't think there is any hope for us!

Thanks for the info on the school, though. I guess I should have realized that.
