Hi: I am trying to locate any orphanages in or around fort mill area to start involving my children in to helping the less fortunate - for eg: taking cakes to them vs spending few hundreds in sports connection! I want them to start contributing to the society. they are pretty young, but its never too early to begin.
are there any places which will allow visitors to help them? orphanages are preferable as they love children.

Thank you very much

I don't know about orphanages, but you may want to try Children's Attention Home in Rock Hill. You can contact them and see what types of volunteer services they'd appreciate. It's a wonderful organization. I think it's awesome you are teaching your children the value of helping others, especially children. Lord knows they are God's greatest gift.

My daughter who is 17 just submitted her appplication to volunteer (Children's Attention Homes)yesterday. The hours that your children spend there counts towards a college credit. They also have scholorships available. I have friend who works there and she loves it. I understand what you're doing and applaud you.

oh very cool!!! my kids are 8 and 4 but they have so many toys, books etc., which can be donated and shared with the other kids. Plus my 4year old's birthday is coming up. so he wants to take cake to them and skip his party. If they get involved from this age, it will help them to become good citizens. so i am very excited as well!!

The Episcopal Church Home opened in York, South Carolina in 1910. This was an orphanage until 1969. It's called York Place now and is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for children.

according to the 1940 census there was a Catholic nursery for orphan children, there were two nuns and over 10 kids in residence. My grandmother was one. I can not find any other info about this place. I often wonder if it was a scam.
