Hi all - leaving the garden state for green pastures in Fort Mill, planned move date June '08. There are so many folks from the NY/NJ area planning to move or are already there, that I was wondering if anyone would be interested in setting up or participating in a separate forum for us North Easterners gone South. Thoughts?

Thats a great idea! Count me in....I just hope it won't be a bunch of people complaining about things because I for 1 am extremely happy with the way of life down here and don't really miss NYC much.

Can I join even if I made an intermediate move from Philly to Virginia Beach before making the full jump to CLT? LOL.

In all honesty, I'd love to move back to Philadelphia instead.. but the cost of living, housing isn't worth is since you can get so many similar benefits (schools, diversity, etc.) in the charlotte area.

I would love to join as well - my only problem is I think the move to CT is out since finding work is impossible, 1000's of people all there looking for the same jobs. It's all about who you know, and unfortunately I don't know many people there. Back to NY, I might go.

Mike, things in the job market are tough down here and it really does take a while to get situated however; you just have to keep going. If you want to relocate down here you absolutely can find a job. It just takes awhile. What field are you in? What kind of money are you looking for? Married?? Kids?? It took my wife and I almost a year to get situated job wise. You just have to keep trying. If you have any ???'s you can message me.

I'd be up for it as long as it doesn't turn into a "I miss NY/NJ" or "I don't like _______________ about Charlotte" group.

PM'ing you now!

ok - all of you who have shown interested and PM'd me I have setup a new google forum. Those of you that sent me your email addresses should have already received an invite to join. I posted the first discussion. . .talk to you all soon! And thanks!

BTW - not looking for anyone who wants to knock Fort Mill or the Charlotte area - I would really like to get to know more about the area, people and experiences others have had. I will do my best to make sure it doesn't turn into a B**CH session!

What a great idea. I too would like a group of people who are HAPPY here, not griping because they miss this or that. This is my home now!!
