They all want to leave because of cheap taxes.

We are in Northern Bergen County paying $11,500 in property taxes on a .43 acre. My husband's commute is 2 hrs each way to work. We have been wanting to relocate but had to wait until my daughter graduates high school this June. ( Ironically she will probably wind up in the carolinas before us because that is the only place she is applying to college.) Hopefully when the time comes DH will be able to find a job. I think that will be really tough. Congrats to all who were able to escape.

Yep, count me as another one grateful to be out of that state. For most of my friends still there, I'm SHOCKED that they can still afford to live there. And others are planning on retiring in a couple years and getting out of there as soon as the ink is dry on that last paycheck.

Well, folks, I feel your pain here in the NW. Prices here are outrageous too! Just waiting for my DH to finally say "okay, we'll move," then I am so out of here. The NW is beautiful, but it rains or has gray skies 10 months out of the year! Give me that Carolina sunshine any old day!!! Not to mention all my family is there as are lots of other friendly folks!! Fortunately, my daughter's wedding was last week, so my husband got to "taste" exactly what Southern hospitality is all about, and he surprised himself--and me--by liking it! Hopefully, it won't be much longer and this Southern belle will be home again!
