We are retired and are relocating to SC. My son lives in Fort Mill with his wife and two children. We are in North Port, in southwest Florida. The travel to FM has become tiresome and we want to be closer to them so we welcome the move. We have discounted FM as a destination (crazy growth) and choose to live within 20 to 35 minutes away. We want a house with 2 acres or more for gardening, small animal farming (chickens, ducks, rabbits), parking a boat, rv, etc.
We have been searching in the York, Clover, and Lancaster ares. Haven't looked at Indian Land, north Rock Hill, etc. We also haven't looked at areas in NC that may fit our requirements (just over the line from Clover, Monroe, etc.). We are looking for a quiet existence within a reasonable drive to family and amenities. We are moving there to stay even if we haven't found a house by the time ours is sold here. We have found that you must be local to avail yourself of any "deals" that may present themselves as they disappear quickly (foreclosers especially). Thanks for any insight/advice you may have that could help.
In Lancaster County I really liked the area of off Shiloh-Unity Road towards Pageland. It would be about a 45 minute drive to Fort Mill.
